This will be Coach Norm’s first Season with Vermont United
John “Norm” Peterson just finished his first season as Head Women's Soccer Coach at Northern Vermont University-Johnson. The Lady Badgers won Coach Norm's collegiate coaching debut, played hard all season and had a chance to make the conference tournament; falling just short on the last day of the regular season. He looks forward to a full recruiting class and building a perennial contender in the North Atlantic Conference.
Prior to coaching at Johnson, Coach Norm spent three seasons coaching in the Washington West (Harwood) School district. Norm has also coached Club soccer at Mad River Valley Soccer Association from 2015-2021, coaching at age groups from U10 to U16 in the fall, spring and also winter futsal. Through his enthusiasm and energy, Norm has helped build the Mad River girls program during his tenure. In the past five years, the program has gone from zero teams in the U14 and U16 age groups to three teams with over 50 registered players, including the Division 2 girls U16 team that he coached.
Norm Grew up in Central Massachusetts, where he played 3 sports (Soccer, Basketball and Baseball) through High School and was also a youth soccer referee. Upon High School graduation, Coach Norm attended Bryant University in Smithfield, RI where he graduated with a degree in Finance. He later received a Master’s in Business Administration from The Carroll School of Management at Boston College. He lived in Greater Boston from 1994-2006 when his work took him and his family to Bermuda, where he lived and worked for the next eight years until he moved to Vermont in 2014.
Norm Currently lives in Waterbury with his wife and two children and is very excited to be joining Vermont United.
